Lately, September has been more like summer. The mornings have been foggy and wet, but, by midday, the fog has burned off and it is really hot. Well, really hot to my standards (basically anything over 75º). It’s the type of weather that is really hard to properly dress for. Especially if you go off island, it’s a lot hotter. We found that out the hard way over the weekend. We did our annual apple pick at a somewhat local apple orchard (150 pounds later!!), and it was so hot. We were all dressed in pants and I even had a sweatshirt on because it was a lot chillier at our house. Needless to say, we were all sweating profusely by the end of it. Not your typical apple picking weather!

Since today is one of those thick-of-fog mornings and it’s really wet, and there was a darn skunk eating my tomatoes in my garden this morning, I’ve decided it’s a good day to share this strawberry lemonade recipe with you all. I know that maybe it’s a little late in the game, but that’s just how I roll. Or so it would seem. I swear I have all these good intentions of getting recipes to you when it’s actually in season, but it seems that life always gets in the way. Or laundry. Seriously, can we be real for a moment? Does anyone else feel like they are drowning in laundry sometimes? How much laundry can 5 people really accumulate!? A lot apparently. But I digress.

This strawberry lemonade is everything you could hope it to be. It’s refreshing, sweet, and the perfect drink to sit down with after working in the garden all day. If you have any lingering fresh fall strawberries, definitely use them. The fresher the better. This is a drink that can be made alcoholic if you’d like. And, it’s easily doubled or tripled to accommodate as many or as few people needed! This will last for several days in the refrigerator, just stir before serving!
